Well that was a bust for local skiers in the Bozeman area, but the surrounding drainages including the Yellowstone near the Park did get a couple feet of snow. So the snow pack numbers should start creeping upwards in the next couple days.

This image is from last fall, a huge snow storm hit the Yellowstone National Park and made for some huge water conditions in the spring of 2011!

JB - This drake is poorly understood. It's called a Green drake by some, a Gray Drake by others. In all reality it's neither. Regardless of the specific species it is a size 10 to 12, grey in color with slightly mottled wings - commonly found on many of our local freestone streams in SW Montana.

Thanks for following! Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, but I was up on the Missouri River guiding for a week. Fishing was great, but it's good to be home in Livingston.
If you get the chance to visit, let us know and we'll have a cocktail at our 'Cutthroat Lounge' at Yellowstone Valley Lodge over looking the Yellowstone River!

As of June 9th we are at 95% of normal snow pack and moisture in the Yellowstone River Drainage. The long term forecast predicts normal temperatures and above average precipitation over the next two weeks.
Looks good for hopper fishing in August!

We'll be at the Yellowstone (Carbela to Livingston), July 4-7. I sure hope the water clears up in time for us to get in a good fishing float!

We are already looking for employment and housing in Montana, and we've yet to come visit. Our first trip comes in July for my 30th bday. We are floating and fishing the Yellowstone River. Just from reading and gawking at stunning photographs, we've decided Montana is a place we would like to call home. :)
